• Maximizing the family schedule by having only one hour of practice and one game each week

• Allowing the coach to focus on ministering to children and their families, instead of game strategy, by having a set substitution system where all players are allowed equal playing time and equal opportunity for improvement.

• Encouraging each player with a game day award following every game

• Maximizing ministry opportunities by exposing players to Scripture-based devotions during each practice and spectators to halftime testimonies each game day.

• Providing opportunities to see changed hearts and lives among children, family members, and volunteers who experience an Upward ministry.

• Building toward a harvest time at Awards Night where participants will receive a special award.  Participants and parents are also given an opportunity to respond to the Gospel.

Upward Cheerleading is designed to build an atmosphere catered to bringing out the Winner in every child through:

Parents may drop off their form and registration fee at the Church Office anytime between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.

 

Registration Information

The early registration cost per child for basketball is $69.  The early registration cost per child for cheerleading is $59.  After October 31, add $10.  Deadline for registration is November 17.  Basketball shorts are optional at a cost of $13.  Cheerleading mock turtlenecks are optional at a cost of $12.

 

Evaluations and Sign-ups

Everyone must attend one basketball evaluation or cheerleading sign-up.  They will take place at the Duncanville's First Baptist Church Gym as follows:

 

5 year olds through 3rd Grade Boys/Girls

Tuesday, November 6, between 6:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m.

 

 

4th through 6th Grade Boys/Girls

Thursday, November 8, between 6:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m.

 

5 year olds through 6th grade Boys/Girls

Saturday, November 17, between 9 am and 1 pm

 

League Schedule

Practices begin Monday, December 3, 2007.  First Game is Saturday, January 12, 2008.  The Awards Celebration is Saturday, March 8, 2008.
